Sedge
The child that was given a name
Sedge is named for the grass that grows on graves — and it hatched from one. The ferrywoman Teva found the broken shell in the mound on the Old Wall.
She hid it under her landing and taught it a single signal: two knocks on the wood. Everything that follows in the film begins with that sound.
